Hi, i’m ali

When I was a junior in college at UCLA, I signed up for my first course in Yoga. At the time, I was looking to fulfill my movement credits as part of my dance major in the World Arts & Cultures program. What I found was a practice to connect me to my breath and allow me to feel grounded, in the present moment, in a way I had never felt before. It was beyond challenging physically, it was mentally awakening. From there, I was hooked. I started practicing at various studios around the city, beginning with the complimentary classes at Lululemon, where I met my first teacher trainer.

Post graduation, I accepted a full time position with the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, managing their box suites and sponsorships before moving over to the Pantages Theatre to manage marketing and promotions. While I loved my job in live entertainment, I knew my calling was greater. I desired to travel the world, teach yoga, and meet other like-minded health professionals. So, in the summer of 2012, I left my corporate job, flew away to Australia, and traveled until I eventually made it back to the sunny, beachside community of Santa Monica. From there, my teaching career began. I started teaching at Bryan Kest’s Power Yoga, YogaWorks and Exhale for Sacred Movement, all studios I called home as a student. Then, I moved to Manhattan Beach where I took up classes at The Green Yogi, Unplug Meditation and Yoga Salt. It’s been over 10 years since I was certified to teach yoga and my love for the practice has led me to amazing teachers all around the globe. My credentials include pre/post natal yoga, ayurveda, subtle body, meditation and mindfulness, kalari vinyasa, sequencing intensives, and more. I will continue to extend my studies and broaden my horizon of this ancient practice because the more I grow, the more I uncover and desire to tune in and listen.

This is a practice of awakening. Awakening you to your Self, your higher consciousness, the magic within you, and the magic within all of us. I have never felt more united and aligned in my entire life and honing in on these skills has allowed me to create a business and life I love. I met my husband in the fall of 2015 and a few years later we welcomed our daughter, Clover, into the world. We now travel the world together as a family, sharing our passions for travel, nature, culture and fitness. We plan to continue to share our knowledge of how we bring our practice into our home life via our business, myOm.life.

In addition to teaching public classes, I have been blessed to work with a number of organizations who are helping to spread the message of mental health and physical wellness. These companies include YogaGlo, Udaya Yoga, Yoga Journal, YogaWakeUp, Unplug Meditation, YogisAnonymous, and more. Please check out these sites who provide at-home yoga and meditation classes via their website or app!

Sending you love and blessings along your journey. Please keep in touch via social media or come into a class, as my guest! Send a note to ali@aliowens.com. Namaste - Ali
